February 20 & 21, 2010: The planning process for the future parks and streets on the former Schlage site kicks off with a two-day open house on Saturday Feb 20 (11am to 5pm) and Sunday Feb 21 (1pm to 5pm) at the Visitacion Valley Elementary School. See the Open Space, Streetscape and Site Design Open House Notices in English, in Spanish, or in Chinese.

 

January 14, 2010: Remediation activities on the site is starting. See the Remediation Injection Work Notice in English, in Spanish, or in Chinese.

 

December 18, 2009: The Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) Report is completed. The HABS Report, which contains photographs, written history, and interviews, is an archival documentation of the demolished buildings that used to be on the Schlage Lock factory site and the Railyard. November 16, 2009: California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) approved the Remedial Action Plan (RAP) for the project, after a public commenting period from Sept. 10 to Oct. 13, 2009, paving the way for remediation to start. See the DTSC Approval Letter.

 

October 16, 2009: CityBuild Academy, in collaboration with the Mayor's Office of Economic and Workforce Development, the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, the Developer and its affiliates (Brownfield Partners and MACTEC), and local community and economic development organizations, held a Environmental Field Technician Training and Job Resource Fair at the project site. Graduates of the training program were congratulated by Supervisor Sophie Maxwell and the Mayor's Office for their dedication to their career development. Environmental firms were on hand to discuss future green job opportunities in San Francisco and elsewhere in the Bay Area.

 

August 31, 2009: The City's Department of Public Works (DPW) started construction of the Leland Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project, which will last for 10 months.
